Alex Day is the founder and CEO of Sheltowee. Alex's academic background is in physics, mathematics and Russian language. Alex founded Sheltowee in 2000 and has helped to start dozens of companies since then. Alex has been instrumental in the state of Kentucky in the area of plant made pharmaceuticals and has assisted in raising over $50 million in capital for Sheltowee and its client companies. Alex is passionate about science, entrepreneurism, the outdoors and his faith. Alex has managed venture capital funds and understands what it is like to be on both sides of the table, both as an investor and as an entrepreneur seeking investment. Alex is interested in developing and deploying systems and programs that will significantly enhance the entrepreneurial ecosystem and have a strong impact on that ecosystem in his home state of Kentucky.
David Chin is an investor and Managing Partner at Sheltowee. David is a small business owner and has helped to start dozens of companies in Kentucky. David is originally from Cambodia and still has close ties to his native country. David came to the United States in 1994 and arrived in Kentucky in 1995. David holds a patent and is highly instrumental in Sheltowee's portfolio company International Energy Resources, LLC, which is developing waste to energy projects in Vietnam and other Asian countries. David was recently appointed as a Cambodian Honorary Consul to serve as an advocate for trade and cultural exchange between Kentucky and Cambodia. David speaks English, Vietnamese, Khmer and Thai.
Patrick Chea is an investor and Managing Partner of Sheltowee. Patrick is a native of Cambodia and came to the United States in 1994. Prior to immigrating to the United States Patrick served as a Dutch marine and served as a UN Peace Keeper in his home country of Cambodia. Patrick has started numerous businesses in Kentucky and continues to maintain strong ties to his native country of Cambodia. Patrick has helped many in the Cambodian community start businesses. Patrick speaks English, Dutch and Khmer.
Homayoun Sarabi is an investor and advisor to Sheltowee. Homayoun emigrated from the Azerbaijan region to the United States when he was only 19 years old. Teaching himself to speak English, Homayoun went on to the University of Louisville (Speed Scientific School) where he received a bachelors degree in civil engineering and then went on to receive a masters degree in structural engineering. Homayoun has been in construction/engineering industry for over 36 years, and has worked actively in low income housing industry for last 19 years. Homayoun provides the Sheltowee management team advice on various projects including International Energy Resources waste to energy projects. Homayoun speaks Turkish and Persian fluently, and is familiar with Arabic.
Dunja "Lena" Babic is Executive Assistant to Alex Day. Lena holds a bachelor's degree in business psychology from USEE, Novi Sad, and is working to complete her master's degree in psychotherapy at Faculty of Legal and Business Studies, USEE. Based in Serbia, she has experience as a volunteer counselor at Center Srce in Novi Sad, where she provided emotional support to people in crisis. Lena speaks Swedish, Serbian and English.
